Tourist information

This town, also known as Donostia, is located along a white sandy gulf in the middle of the Urgull and Igeldo mountains. Fishermen's houses, a smart suburb and contemporary areas make it one of the most eye-catching towns on the Cantabrian coastline. The Museum of San Telmo, the Peine del Viento and the Kursaal are samples of how the town brings together contemporary and classic features. Meanwhile, the district of Guipuzcoa, of which San Sebastián is the capital, combines sea and hills, offering the sports and gastronomy, in addition to colourful cultural attractions.

There are a plenty of tourist attractions and activities to enjoy during the day in San Sebastian; the beautiful old neighborhood is teeming with cafés, pubs and eating places, where you can try their delicious Pintxos. If you are searching for cultural tourist attractions, then visits to the baroque church of Santa Maria, the Medieval church of San Vicente and the Museo de San Telemo, a museum set in a previous 16th century convent, are all worthwhile. A well worth visiting is the Miramar Castle, also known as the Royal Country House of Miramar, situated above the Pico del Loro (the dividing point between Playa de la Concha and Ondarreta). With its parklands, gardens, constructions and outbuildings the Miramar Castle is the spectacular summer palace.

San Sebastian features one of the most attractive climates in the whole of Spain, it is temperate and stays luscious and green all year round. The average temperature in the summer months around 22 ºC and hardly falls underneath 8 ºC in the winter months.

In the town’s exceptional aquarium you will fear for your life as huge sharks bear down on you and will get tripped-out by fancy fluoro jellyfish. The main features of a visit are the cinema-screen-sized deep-ocean and coral-reef exhibitions and the long tunnel, around which swim monsters of the deep.
