When to visit Barcelona

July is most likely the busiest time in Barcelona; at the same time roughly 10% of stores and bars can be found sealed from mid-August to early September, when the business owners go on holidays. Barcelona has respectable beaches although the inhabitants will actually cherish it if guests do not consider it a beach resort and don't wear beachwear when exploring churches, bars, events and galleries. Barcelona is exceptional off-season and is a charming town even in winter season as long as the possibility of rainfall is low. During the course of these months the town is not too chilly averaging between 9-12°C with bright and blue skies. Given the high moisture, 19-23°C is considered mild climate, which is generally the temperature level in May and June and in October and early November. This is the most appropraite time to visit this part of Spain. Anything hotter than this can feel too hot.

Barcelona Cuisine

Gastronomy has become among the key dynamos for Catalonian economic situation in the last couple years, with some of the world’s greatest dining establishments and top chefs, for instance Carme Ruscalleda, Ferràn Adrià, Carles Gaig, Sergi Arola and Puig, all native of and working in the area. The cuisine is a vibrant blend of classic and modern exploratory meals, with affects from several different cultures who have lived in Barcelona over the last couple hundred years: Arab, Jewish, Provençal, French, Greek and Italian.


Scams are surprisingly frequent, particularly in very touristy districts. The number one thing to keep in mind about a scam is that you should never speak with someone you don't know who walks up to you in a cramped area. Do not sign anything, talk to them or help them with their issue. Being rude is literally your perfect defense versus scams. You can't be deceived if they don't have time to speak with you. Be sure to keep your doors locked while driving in the town and look for any suspicious scooters stopping near your automobile.

Get around

Around the city of Barcelona there are several small towns and villages which are definitely worth a visit, featuring the city off Vic, located to the west of the Sau reservoir. Town of Vic is home to a magnificent basilica. Two beautiful towns that must be visited are the Villafranca del Penedes and Sant Sadurni d’Anoia, both wine producers of the area, and enjoying a plentiful cultural ancestry and many of colourful tourist attractions. Sant Sadurni d’Anoia is the main producer of Cava wine in Spain, the equivalent to French champagne.The small town of Manresa, with its fortress settled on a hill and an crucial stop-off away from the coast of Barcelona.
